Vista
#1. There is nothing more inviting than standing on this first tee with
its spectacular vista. With sculpted mounding, flowing fescue and 12
taunting bunkers, you can begin your adventure at Black Diamond. This
down hill par 5 plays 614 yards from the back tees. You couldn’t
ask for a better opening hole.
Stone Wall
#2. Hole #2 has been proudly named the “ Stone Wall ”. Here
is a little piece of history, which has been preserved and cradles the second
tee. This long par 4 is the #1 stroke hole, measuring 487 yards. A
well-placed drive in the fairway will set up your approach for a long to mid
iron onto the green.
Hooked
#3. A draw off the tee for the right handers is ideal, allowing a shorter
2nd shot to the green. However, landing too far left complicates the
approach by requiring a shot that must carry the green side bunker. The
best approach to this small green is from the right side of the fairway, opening
up the hole.
Edge of the Earth
#4. The first par 3 is unique, as it plays into a double green shared
with hole #7. Having accurate yardage to the pin position is imperative
since this green measures 14,000 sq. feet. Distance control and accuracy
are keys to playing this par 3 well. It also showcases the largest
bunker on the course, awaiting missed shots to the right.
Slope Side
#5. This is the perfect risk reward short par 4. The golfer has
the option of playing safe with a fairway wood or long iron, or pulling out
the big stick and aiming at the green. If going for it, beware of the
5 pot bunkers and narrow approach.
Down Town
#6. A well designed down hill par 4, inviting you to grip it and rip
it. This green will best reward a British style bump and run or a low
spinning stinger. Avoid hitting left or long due to the massive pond,
which wraps around the green.
Sand Bridge
#7. Placing your tee shot on this uphill par 3 is key due
to the 14000 sq. ft double green with undulating breaks. When playing
this hole, the golfer should consider an extra club or two allowing for the
uphill and prevailing wind. An interesting feature of this hole is a
wooden bridge through
the green side bunker allowing the golfer passage from the cart path to the
green.
Desert Oasis
#8. This sweeping par 4, dogleg left is full of obstacles on your way
to the green. Placing your tee shot in the fairway is a must, being surrounded
by 3 fairway bunkers on the right and a large waste bunker on the left. Missing
the green on your second shot could be concerning, due to the pond on the left
side.
Expedition
#9. A squarely hit tee shot over the first hump in the fairway will add
distance when tackling this massive par 5. This is truly a beautiful
uphill front 9 finishing hole. Surrounded by mounds of fescue and bunkers,
this hole poses a true test of strength.
Twist of Fate
#10. A down hill par 5 with a double dogleg must be played to perfection
in order to score well. This magnificently constructed hole is surrounded
by tree line definition and must be played to certain areas on the fairway. This
is a must see golf hole because of its natural beauty.
Aqua Blue
#11. Can you say signature hole? This exquisite par 4 is absolutely
amazing and belongs on a postcard. One of the first things you will notice
while standing on the elevated tee is the breath taking aqua blue pond,
giving its colour due to the natural calcium deposits in the water. Once
you have appreciated the beauty of this hole, you must focus on the task at
hand, landing your ball on the fairway framed in by bunkers, mounding and fescue. Club
selection is important when choosing your line over the pond.
Pinehurst
#12. This hole is carved out of the red, 100 year old pines
and feels like you have arrived in Pinehurst North Carolina. When walking
down the fairway you can appreciate the sheer beauty that this hole has to
offer. Accuracy
is more of a premium than length on this hole.
Tunnel
#13. This par 5 is one of a kind and will post a challenge to all golfers. Placing
your tee shot long and left will tempt big hitters to go for the green with
a high fade in two shots. The safe shot is just right of the two fairway
bunkers, leaving a short iron or wedge into the green. This hole meanders
through tall pines and has a downhill dogleg right close to the green.
Hawk
#14. A long par 3 measuring over 200 yards from the back tees, surrounded
by many hazards. Left of the green is a series of pot and grass bunkers
as well as a pond. The prevailing wind is into the golfer, it is best
to take an extra club. The bail out is long or to the right.
Switch Back
#15. This uphill par 4 creates a challenge when deciding which club to
hit off the tee. This hole gives you the option of hitting anything from
a driver to a long iron, depending on how aggressive you want to be. Framed
in by tall pines and rolling fairways, aiming up the left side of the fairway
will be an asset. Once on the fairway you will have a great look at this
elevated green.
Lone Pine
#16. Hole number 16 is full of strategy and ball placement. Aiming
your tee shot along the right side of the tree line will ensure an amazing
view of the green. In the middle of the fairway stands a 100 ft. white
pine, therefore being right or left of this tree is essential. When hitting
your approach shot take one extra club due to elevation. High mounds
surrounding the green aid the golfer in containing miss-hit shots. Once
on the green, take a moment to savor the picturesque view of the Ganaraska
valley.
Rockery
#17. A scenic down hill par three overlooking the natural beauty of the
Oakridge Moraine. Surrounded by tall pines, and an assortment of hazards. Placed
right of the green is a cluster of native rocks, which are situated in a pond. Left
of the green is two pot bunkers that will catch wayward shots. This well
constructed par 3 is a rare gem and will leave a lasting impression.
Climb
#18. This uphill golf hole is cut through the tall pines with various
staged plateaus and elevation changes. It is one of the most unique finishing
holes, leaving the golfer wanting more.
